Instead 2010 has been a disaster for both parties.

Birmingham v Tottenham

Tottenham have had a little bit of a wobble but they had a good midweek victory and there is talk of Younes Kaboul and Eidur Gudjohnsen coming in, and they would be clever signings.

This is a real test for Birmingham, to try to bounce back from defeat against Chelsea after such a good run, but I'm going for a Tottenham away win.

Aberdeen v Motherwell

The 3-0 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle was a fantastic result for the Dons and, added to the recent win over Kilmarnock, they're starting to build some momentum.

I've been really impressed by the clutch of youngsters at Pittodrie, particularly Fraser Fyvie.

The big danger is burnout and Mark McGhee will want to use them sparingly.

Craig Brown's arrival has given everyone at Motherwell a boost.

Burnley are still finding their feet and their away form needs to improve significantly. Confidence is going to be key and their defeat by Reading in the FA Cup will not help.

Bolton, fresh from a confidence-boosting win over Sheffield United, should prevail in what should be a highly charged atmosphere at the Reebok Stadium.

Manchester United v Hull City

Hull have improved on the road and picked up a fantastic point at Tottenham last weekend, largely due to the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Boaz Myhill.

But for all Manchester United's faults and current defensive frailties, I don't think they will be given a stern examination here.

Aberdeen v Kilmarnock

Aberdeen really need to find some consistency and kick on, since they have a good squad and pay good wages.

They were great in the Scottish Cup against Hearts but the loss at St Mirren would have been a real downer.

The return of Jimmy Calderwood to Pittodrie adds some extra spice and I'm sure the new Killie boss will get a decent reception.
