Predictions in english Чемпионат Англии от BBC
Пятница, 16 Октябрь 2009

SATURDAY

Aston Villa v Chelsea

Aston Villa v Chelsea (1245 BST)

Lots of these players have been on international duty and though it's not such a problem physically, I think mentally some of them might be a bit tired.

Chelsea's players were scattered all over the globe and I don't think this will turn out to be a classic. For the managers, it's just about getting through these types of games.

Verdict: 1-1

Match preview

Arsenal v Birmingham

Birmingham cannot score on the road - mind you, they struggle to score at home too, and I don't think the takeover will have any effect on them until they can buy new players.

The fans don't much like their one-up-front policy - when good teams do this it becomes 4-3-3 when they've got the ball, but Birmingham struggle a bit to do this.

Arsenal have been breaking teams down well at home this season and I don't think they'll have a problem here.

Verdict: 3-0

Match preview

Everton v Wolves

Everton v Wolves

The Everton squad is getting stronger as the season progresses, and the return to training of Phil Jagielka is another bit of good news.

Wolves will be put under pressure and you have to ask yourselves whether they will be able to deal with the physical examination.

I think the answer is no, and I'm backing the home team to win.

Verdict: 2-0

Match preview

Man Utd v Bolton

Man Utd v Bolton

What you have to say about Bolton under Gary Megson, similar to when Sam Allardyce was manager, is that they will give United a proper physical battle.

They won't give away easy goals so United will have to earn their victory, but Sir Alex Ferguson has the advantage of being able to change his team and have that great insurance on the bench.

Sunderland gave them a real scare at Old Trafford last time around, but this should be more comfortable.

Verdict: 2-0

Match preview

Portsmouth v Tottenham

Portsmouth v Tottenham

I hope Harry Redknapp gets the reception he deserves at Portsmouth - and that is an extremely good one because of what he did for that club.

He got them out of the Championship, brought in brilliant players (all of whom were sold for a profit) and won the FA Cup. He got out when he saw the writing on the wall and you can't blame him.

I just hope a few mindless idiots don't ruin the day. On the pitch, I reckon Pompey will pick up a point - and it'll be a great help for Paul Hart to have Avram Grant's experience with him from now on.

Verdict: 1-1

Match preview

Stoke City v West Ham

Stoke v West Ham

This conjures up memories of matches between these two many years ago, when they were both pure footballing teams.

Nowadays of course, Stoke are dogged, determined and a handful for everyone in the Premier League.

West Ham are struggling, their squad looks thin and apart from Carlton Cole, where are the goals going to come from? The Britannia Stadium is a fortress - and you have first got to fight them if you are going to get anything.

Verdict: 2-1

Match preview

Sunderland v Liverpool

Sunderland v Liverpool

I'll go for a draw here. Sunderland's performance at Old Trafford must give them belief that they can push on and finish at least halfway in this league.

I think their main problem in recent times has been how they play when they haven't got the ball, but Steve Bruce has started to change that for the better.

Verdict: 2-2

Match preview

SUNDAY

Blackburn v Burnley

Blackburn v Burnley (1300 BST)

These two sets of fans seriously don't like each other. There's no point dressing it up, and it will make for a cracking atmosphere, that's for sure.

The referee will earn his money and it will be a great game for the neutral because it will be frantic, end-to-end stuff.

You can bet on someone losing their head, there will be a lot of incidents and probably goals scored through mistakes. I'm going for Burnley to grab a massive away win.

Verdict: 1-2

Match preview

Wigan v Man City

Wigan v Man City (1600 BST)

Man City have a really poor record at Wigan, I believe, but they've never quite had this quality of squad have they?

But City have had so many players on international duty in South America and Africa in the last couple of weeks, I think the sheer extent of the travelling might have an effect on some of them.

That's why I'm going for a Wigan win. Roberto Martinez will want the same result as when they beat Chelsea at home, and with Hendry Thomas and Mohamed Diame patrolling the midfield, they might pull it off.

Verdict: 2-1

Match preview

MONDAY

Fulham v Hull City

Fulham v Hull City (2000 BST)

Hull got a much-deserved win last time around and that has eased the pressure on them.

Fulham have played much better this season than their results show, but every mistake they have made has cost them dear, unlike last term.

At home Fulham have been strong in recent times and I think they will get their season back on track with victory.

Verdict: 2-0
