Falkirk v Kilmarnock

It was a poor result for Falkirk in the cup this week against a Celtic side who had rested many of their top players yet still won convincingly.

Eddie May's side are bottom of the league, but in spells during games they've actually played quite well and have caused some problems.

They're the 'nearly-men' of the season. They were unlucky against Hamilton to have a goal chopped off.

Kilmarnock have had an average start to the campaign and they too will be smarting after going out of the cup.

Jim Jefferies has been speaking about getting more consistency in the squad.

Kilmarnock v Rangers (1230)

Kilmarnock started with a bang, hammering Hamilton on the opening day, but they have laboured a bit since then and haven't picked up any more points.

I can't see that changing on Saturday since Kilmarnock's record against the Old Firm isn't great.

Kevin Kyle will be back leading the line and he is always a threat, so I fancy the home side to score.

Rangers will be on a high after a good Champions League result but they had to put in a real shift against Stuttgart.

Walter Smith only has a small squad to play with and tiredness could be a factor, although the visitors should have enough to win this one.

Prediction: 1-3

Burnley v Sunderland (1245)

Burnley have already recognised that winning at home is their best chance of survival. They've tried playing expansively away from home and it has cost them. But after home wins against Manchester United and Everton, they know they can do it against a team like Sunderland.

Steve Bruce has improved them and made them more difficult to beat, but I think a bit like Stoke last year, home support makes a difference.

Verdict: 2-1

Motherwell v Rangers (1215)

Motherwell have been a real breathe of fresh air so far, playing with great energy and enthusiasm.

The Fir Park youngsters have stepped up to the challenge really well and they will be fired up for a crack at Rangers.

Walter Smith's side have a 100% record and that's all you can ask for.

I'm looking forward to seeing new signing Jerome Rothen and he could be the answer wide on the left and bring a good balance to the team.

This will be a tough test for Rangers. But, if they play at their best, they should have too much for the home side.

Prediction: 1-2

Blackburn v Wolverhampton

Wolves have been a bit up and down this season but have shown a few good signs. Blackburn are big and strong, which is something Wolves will have to learn to cope with in this division.

You could argue that Wolves are the better footballing team, but I think Blackburn's size and athleticism and their set-pieces will prove to be the difference.

Verdict: 2-1

Aberdeen v Motherwell

This will be a big occasion for Mark McGhee, facing his old team. He will be so pleased that he got that confidence-boosting win at Hamilton last week because he wouldn't fancy playing against his old club looking for his first win.

But Hamilton aren't at their best, so perhaps we cannot read too much into that 3-0 win for the Dons.

Motherwell are flying at the moment. The young lads who have come into the team, like Ross Forbes, have given the team energy but they have enough experienced pros there to guide them.

I reckon the teams will share a load of goals.

Prediction: 2-2

Chelsea v Burnley (1245 KO)

I tipped Burnley to lose the first three league games, so Burnley fans will be laughing their socks off when I say that Chelsea will beat them.

I thought they would struggle against Manchester United, then I thought that effort alone wouldn't be enough against Everton - I got it spectacularly wrong.

I'll go for Chelsea who started the season excellently - everything you'd expect from potential champions.

Arsenal v Stoke

Arsenal are only a couple of good players away from becoming a big problem for the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea next year and will comfortably win this one.

Stoke have had an excellent first season in the Premier League and fully deserve to stay up.

Verdict: 2-0

SUNDAY

West Brom v Liverpool (1330 BST)

This is a Sunday match, and maybe by this time Liverpool would have learnt that they can't win the league.

But Rafael Benitez's team are very professional and will try to get as many points as possible from the last two games.

West Brom have scored six goals in their last couple of home games and won them both, but I think Liverpool will be too strong for them.

Verdict: 0-2

Blackburn v Portsmouth

Rovers and Portsmouth both probably think they need another win to be safe.

I thought it was a bit of strange result for Portsmouth against Arsenal last week but after David James handed the Gunners the first goal, it was always going to be tough.

I'm going to go for a Blackburn win because I think they've managed the art of picking up three points at home when it matters and doing it against against teams they are capable of beating.

Pompey will be fine but I think this result for Rovers will ensure their place in the league next season.
