Чемпионат Шотландии от BBC

Falkirk v Kilmarnock

Falkirk v Kilmarnock

It was a poor result for Falkirk in the cup this week against a Celtic side who had rested many of their top players yet still won convincingly.

Eddie May's side are bottom of the league, but in spells during games they've actually played quite well and have caused some problems.

They're the 'nearly-men' of the season. They were unlucky against Hamilton to have a goal chopped off.

Kilmarnock have had an average start to the campaign and they too will be smarting after going out of the cup.

Jim Jefferies has been speaking about getting more consistency in the squad.

I think Falkirk will manage to get something from this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Hearts v Hamilton Accies

Hearts v Hamilton

I expect Hearts to win this one, but it won't be as easy as everybody might make out.

It's been a typical season so far for them - pretty up and down.

There isn't quite enough goals in their side right now, but they'll have got a great lift by coming back to beat Dunfermline on Wednesday.

And, with Andrew Driver in the team, they're sure to get plenty of chances.

Accies had a really shaky start to the league but have had a good couple of results lately, beating Hibs and picking up another point against Falkirk.

They might have felt they could even have got more in that one.

It will be a hard-fought three points, but I still fancy Hearts to win.

Prediction: 2-1

Motherwell v Hibernian

Motherwell v Hibernian

I really like the way Motherwell are playing these days under Jim Gannon.

They're well organised, generally they're keeping clean sheets and they're scoring goals too.

Even so, they had a bit of a blip when they lost two soft ones against Inverness mid-week and perhaps they have to take a bit more care at set-pieces.

Hibs have been a bit inconsistent. They beat St Johnstone 3-0 at home in the league then lost to them 3-1 in the cup four days later.

But it shows that you can always expect goals in Hibs games.

There's nothing separating the two teams in the table and I think it'll it'll be a close, entertaining encounter.

Match preview

Prediction: 2-2

Rangers v Aberdeen

Rangers v Aberdeen

The thing about Rangers this season is that they've not been firing on all cylinders but they're still getting results.

I was speaking to Walter Smith before the Queen of the South versus Rangers cup tie and he still feels the team have a bit to go before they're 100%.

I felt Queens matched them for much of that game.

But at home they should be able to do enough against an Aberdeen side that's been struggling a bit.

Confidence must be low within Mark McGhee's squad after the cup exit at the hands of Dundee. They'll also be without the pace and skill of Sone Aluko.

But the Dons always give Rangers a tough time and I don't expect this game will be any different.

I think Aberdeen will play a cautious 4-5-1 and will score, but it won't be enough for victory.

Match preview

Prediction: 3-1

St Johnstone v Dundee United

St Johnstone v Dundee United

This is a difficult one for United. St Johnstone have been scoring goals and, in the games I've watched them, they've shown great energy and a fantastic team spirit.

They're still looking for that first win since returning to the top flight, but scoring three at Easter Road in the cup will make them feel that that day is just around the corner.

Everyone expects United to be the third force this year.

They've had a solid campaign until last weekend when they had a bad day at the office against Motherwell.

There'll be a derby feel about Saturday's match and I reckon a share of the spoils is about right.

Match preview

Prediction: 1-1

St Mirren v Celtic

St Mirren v Celtic

Fixtures in Paisley are always tricky ones for any team. St Mirren are always hard to beat at home.

But they're also finding it difficult to win at their new stadium too as they are still trying to get that all-important first league win. But I don't think it will come this Saturday.

Celtic are going well at the top of the league and rolled over Falkirk easily with almost their second string.

That, along with that dramatic 'late, late show' against Hearts, will have the confidence high in Tony Mowbray's dressing-room.

It remains to be seen whether Aiden McGeady will be fit. He's such an influential player for Celtic.

But, whoever plays, I reckon there won't be too much in it.
